My young nephews are wild boys who love their Raspberry koolaids and Hawaiian Punches, and now the the living room carpet has red patches everywhere. Some are old, some are fairly new.
We have a house inspection coming up in a few days, and have tried different commercial cleaners, but they've only lightened some of the stains to a lightish pink. Can anyone suggest something/anything else I can do?
Unfortunately, some of the older stains may be permanent, depending on how long they've been there. But, you may be able to lighten them a bit as well as remove the newer stains with the right kind of spot cleaner and some "elbow grease." The following link is from the site of the carpet cleaning company that I use and contains tips on how to treat common carpet stains. There may be some info there to help you (they don't list punch or Koolaid, but they do list similar things like soft drinks and red wine and such):
I try to hit them the second that they happen with a mixture of laundry soap and water. Then I scrub the hell out of it with a scrub brush. It worked great...especially when my daughter was potty training.
I like using bath tub cleaners on carpet spots. I know that sounds odd, but it does work. Test it first before you have a stain, maybe in the closet or where nobody can see it, then it will be handy next time.
I have used Natures Miracle - it's normally used for cleaning up pet accidents but it's an enzyme cleaner and I find that if you just spray it on and let it dry the stain will just disappear. ÂÂ*I buy it at PetCo but I'm sure any pet store will have it. ÂÂ*
Brightest Blessings and good luck. ÂÂ*Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you all. I'm embarrassed to admit that I'd forgotten about posting here, please forgive me.
I was pretty much panicking about the stains and the inspection the night of the post, so I mixed some baking soda with water and rubbed the paste into the worst areas. I was desperate.
The dirt and muddied-up areas by the patio door (which I'd neglected to mention) reacted well to the paste. They're almost the original color now. The red stains lightened to a pink again. We passed inspection!
okey dokey, I have a carpet that is a grayish beige, and this is what I've always used to get out stains, out of carpet, white clothes, colored clothes.. anything. it is a mother's (or oldest sister's) dream come true, and life saver.
it's called HogWash, and contrary to it's name, it is clear of any animal parts.
it's a beloved thing in my house, because we've had the same bar for over five years, i believe, and we've shared it with friends and family.
it will take chocolate out of a white shirt.
it took black mould out of a satin wedding dress, without damaging it at all.
it is truly a miracle stain remover, and I have yet to discover it's equal.
forgot to add- it takes red coolaid out of white shirts too, and carpet, which was what I was trying to get at.. just be warned, if your carpet is dirty, you may end up with a lighter spot where you were scrubbing, it will NOT damage the carpet, it will just get it really really clean.
finish more homework for the night, pleased now
